Chocolate Chip Banana Oatmeal Cookies

These chocolate chip banana oatmeal cookies are the perfect holiday treat! Oatmeal cookies provide more health benefits than regular flour and sugar cookies because they contain more fiber that keep you fuller (McLaughlin, 2018). Oats are a whole grain, meaning they contain all of the essential parts of the entire grain (bran, germ, and endosperm) (Busch, n.d.). Dietary fiber, found in most whole grains, is great for our gut bacteria. It helps normalize bowel movements, maintains bowel health, lowers cholesterol levels, helps control blood sugar levels, and many more benefits (Mayo Clinic Staff, n.d.).
Ingredients:
2 bananas
2 cups of rolled oats
1 tbsp of peanut butter
1 tsp of vanilla extract
½ cup of chopped walnuts
1 tsp of cinnamon
½ cup of dark chocolate chips
Instructions:
Mash up 2 bananas in a bowl.
Add 2 cups of rolled oats.
Add 1 tbsp of peanut butter (or any nut butter).
Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
Add ½ cup of chopped walnuts.
Add 1 tsp of cinnamon.
Add ½ cup of dark chocolate chips.
Mix everything and place on a baking sheet in small balls.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.
